Pune is one of the major cities of Maharashtra. Famously known as 'Queen of Deccan', it is India’s eighth largest and Maharashtra’s second largest city. The city is known for its historical importance and more recently IT revolution. It is rich in scenic beauty and typical Maratha culture. Several famous educational, research and development institutions are located in Pune. It has also a strategic military base situated here.

The emergence of Pune as a major destination of BPO and IT related industries has given impetus to the boom of real estate market in the city. Major corporate houses and IT companies are looking out for commercial properties so that they can build their base in the region. Commercial properties are also sought after for the development of shopping malls, convention centers, hotels, clubs, retail stores, multiplexes, etc. On the other hand, those coming here from other part of the country are constantly searching for residential properties. Pune rose to a new prominence in the year 1950- 60 with the start of industrial development in the region. Automotive giants like Telco, Bajaj, Kinetic, Bharat Forge, Alfa Laval, Thermax etc. were established in 1970s making Pune one of the major centers of automotive sector in India. At present, the city is a significant IT hub not only in Maharashtra but also in the whole country.

Pune is known all over the country for its well developed infrastructure along with all basic amenities matching any international metropolis. It is one of the most preferred urban destinations of India today owing to the better life style, advanced infrastructure, improved transportation, and clean surroundings of city.

Pune is situated in the proximity of Mumbai which is a commercial capital of India. There is an ease of travel from Mumbai to Pune due to expressway and greater frequency of trains and flights. Companies finding it difficult to float in Mumbai are increasingly opting for Pune as their base now. Several IT and biotechnology parks are being developed in the city with fabulous amenities.

Pune is also known as ‘Oxford of East’ owing to a large number of educational and research institutes located here. The institutions offering courses of technical education such as like architecture, IT, and management are based at Pune. Students from every part of the county come here to get better higher education in the Professional colleges of Pune.
